The country with the highest average internet connection speed in 2018 is Singapore, which is on top with significantly more download speed than Germany. Sweden is in second place and is Europe’s fastest country. The decision to focus on FTTP (pure fibre) means around 60% of Swedish homes and businesses now have access to speeds of up to 1Gbps (1,000Mbps). The average internet speed in Germany—ranked in 25th position—is significantly lower than the globe's top performers.
